Jet Fighter pilots in the Korean War were trained not to grab at the controls when disaster struck. Artillery exploding near the plane could flip the fighter jet over. A disoriented pilot grabbing at the controls could quickly slam the plane into the ground.
“Let the controls go. Don’t do anything, just think.” was the command that flowed through their minds. Fear causes confusion. The pilot must regather their thoughts, take a risk and leave the controls alone, and consider carefully the gauges and warning lights in the aircraft. They could not afford to be afraid. They needed a clear, unconfused mind.
I wonder: What artillery has the enemy fired at you this week? Has he turned your life upside down and disoriented you. Have you been wildly grabbing at the controls of your life seeking to get back on the right track? If you have been reacting in fear, if confusion is taking over your life, then: “Let the controls go and don’t do anything, just think.” Stop what you are doing. Regather your thoughts. Focus on God; The Heavenly Father loves you. Rest in His love. Check out your life from His perspective. Let His Word take fear from your life. This will end your confusion. His Word is more accurate then your interpretation of the situation. Trust Him and you will soon be flying through life the right way up
Blessings are falling all round you

Here is a quote from a book by M. Basilea Schlink
------------------------------------------------------------------
You are troubled and anxious. Yet you cannot solve your problems and difficulties by yourself. Your own restless thoughts and aspirations are making you weak and incompetent. They clog the channel of your heart through which God wants His help to flow. Leave everything to God. Let all your restless thoughts, worrying and frenetic planning come to rest. Rest in God and in His sovereign rule in the knowledge that He will act. Then you will discover that ‘in quietness and in trust shall be your strength’. So choose this course and you will experience help.
