"God doesn't desire for you to live a mixed life of guilt and grace. He desires you to be truly free, alive, and active in his grace alone. When a Christian sits under a mixed covenant teaching for long enough and as Paul says, “puts up with it easily enough,” they can, like the churches in Galatia, truly start living in confusion and never grasp the reality of their God given right to find their rest in his grace. Instead they find themselves on a religious performance tread mill and end up spending their time striving to receive from God based by what they do instead of freely receiving everything from him based on his love. The foundational truth of the New Covenant is one of grace."

Religion thrives and succeeds by keeping people's sins the central problem within the human experience. Enter Jesus, who succeeded by making the hypocrisy of the religious leaders the central problem within the human experience.

Yes, they killed him because of it, but he did rise again, and his message is still the same. God loves you, right here, right now, and his focus in not on your sins, but on your heart, and your heart he loves perfectly—and if any religious clergyman tries to shame you with the weapon of your supposed sins, Jesus is still standing up for you, defending you against religious condemners with their stones, declaring: “Woe to you, teachers of the Bible and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.”

Every time someone tries to shame and judge you, there is Jesus, ready to defend you. That's who he is. That's why he is our Savior. That's why he is the perfect representation of Love. Religion's interest is in keeping you submissive to its demands. God's interest is in liberating you from all fear so you can truly live a life defined by freedom and love.

It is for freedom Christ set you free, be free then. Live daringly. Love outrageously.

Grace poured out

Jesus' parable of the prodigal son was offensive to the Pharisees, not because the younger son rejected the father and went his own way, but because when he returned he was welcomed with great joy by the father, without a word of judgment about the younger son's previous rebellious ways.

Straight back in as a son, no questions asked. He was embraced, given a ring and slippers, and a great party thrown in his honor. The older son expected the father to be just! To treat him not as a son, but a traitor! He expected judgement, but instead he witnessed his father pour out an abundance of grace! Unfair! Unfair! Unjust even! The older brother thought.

The Pharisees believed in the coming of a messiah, but what they expected was a messiah that would offer salvation from the hands of an angry God. What Jesus revealed was something totally different, totally unexpected and deeply offensive to the religious... Jesus revealed God the Father was not angry at all. He revealed God our Father is love.

Welcome home.

Love can't be boxed

Love can't be boxed. On the contrary, love is the one calling us out of the boxes we've somehow wandered into. Live an out-of-the-box life. Live free. Love outrageously.

The whole world works in such a way that we are continually dragged away from our hearts to live in our heads. The problem with this is that our heads make decisions largely influenced by a mixture of fear and the pursuit of a comfortable, safe life. But our hearts are the fearless kind, our hearts are adventures of the best kind, and our hearts want far more than comfort--they want to do things we were born to do.

It is our hearts that hold the revelation of what will make us truly happy, and often our heads, with good intentions, pull us away from that life to live the 'safe' life instead.

Our heads say, "No, no, no!" to the dream in our heart. "That's not possible. It would be great, but it's too risky! It's not profitable enough. It's too dangerous. It's not safe. It won't put a roof over your head and food on the table."

In response, our hearts say: "But this is what I was created to do, to be, to live! Yes, it won't be easy, but it will make me fully alive! Yes, it is risky, but what is life, if not a daring adventure? Yes, it isn't profitable, not right now, but I want more than a mortgage and a fancy car! Don't you understand? I want to do what I was created to do. I want to live, I want to be fully alive, and I want to give the whole world what I have stored up in my heart!"

What is in your heart is there for a purpose. Don't let your mind dismiss the dream in your heart. Be brave. Trust your heart. Live from your heart, and follow the passion that stirs within it. For when we live from our heart, and follow the path our hearts long to walk upon, it is there we find life, and life in abundance.
