Mighty mite

I held a real "widows mite" from the era of Jesus for the first time today. This coin, about as big as my smallest fingernail, was poorly stamped. Half the symbol was off the edge of the coin. The rest was quite clear. Apparently most of these coins are like this. It carried the sense that for its day this was not a very valuable coin. The person hand stamping it, did not take much care.

For one woman, a widow, this was all she had - 2 of these small coins. There was no extra income for her. Instead of grabbing hold of them, the natural human reaction, she offered them up to God. The amazing thing is that God noticed and knew. No one else did, but God did. And God honored her. Jesus said she gave more than anyone else, for she gave all. Two thousand years later we are still talking about what she did. God honors her faith today.

God has seen and knows about your faith too. He knows what you have done in secret. And they are shouting about it in heaven.

Knowing God's nature, I am certain he did not leave that widow to die in poverty. Perhaps you will soon find out how He provided for her. Because He will provide for you too.
